Below a short video impression of Alexander Hamilton working on location. On the sample pages you can admire photographs of the finished decoration of the dining room and tented room featured in the film.
An initial meeting will be set up with the client, if possible on location, or with an architectural plan. The client at this stage will propose their ideas with the help of back ground material (i.e. pictures, magazines) or sometimes an explanation of the type of atmosphere required is enough to start from.
The dimensions of the room and it’s architecture will, of course, influence the possibilities of themes and styles. A general idea of the budget should be discussed as this determines directly how much time could be spent on the painting.
During the second meeting, a more concrete proposal could be worked out with the client. Perhaps a finished drawing or water colour of the proposed room might be required.
Often what happens on larger work sites is that the project and ideas develop as colours and more general decorative painting are in progress, the main point being that flexibility leads to a more harmonious decorative theme.
What is often put down on paper might not be quite right on a larger scale.
A pricing for the work has of course at this stage been precisely outlined.
More complicated decoration requiring more time, might arise, and this should be discussed and agreed upon as soon as possible.
